Near Real Time Risk Index Outcome, Sea Ice Thickness and Freeboard from Cryosat-2 for Kara and Barents seas

This is the Cryosat-2 product of Finnish Meteorological Institute, zoomed into the Kara and Barents sea area. Plots below show the Polar Code Compliant Risk Index Outcome (RIO) derived using H2020 methodology. Also the radar freeboard (FB) and sea ice thickness estimates are shown.

RIO is given for three polar classes (PC): PC4, PC5 and PC7. Estimates are given for three RIO classes:

• Green: RIO > 0
• Yellow: -10 < RIO < 0
• Red: RIO < -10

Please note that this is a prototype product, and should always be used with complementary ice information!
